Visiting Pittsburgh on business and found the Eagle as a local recommendation, so I decided to stop by for dinner. Ate at the bar and got some great recommendations from Charlie the bartender, including this amazing fried chicken BLT. Highly recommended!
We went here before the CeCe Winans concert and loved so much about it. We chose this because of the great reviews and could not have been more pleased. The location was perfect. Our server, Jess, was out of this world. She made great recommendations and was attentive and accommodating. Very personable. We loved we could make a reservation on Open Table. The food was fabulous. Had the burnt ends appetizer and for our meal my husband had a chicken sandwich and I had the chopped salad with fried chicken. It was more than enough food and so delicious. Highly recommend and we will be back for sure! Ask for Jess.
Great location, beautiful place, very nice bar area with tons of great options. Nice menu with southern twist to it. Lots of chicken options. If you are hunting big steaks this is not your place.
Stellar restaurant. Always make a point to come here for my annual Anthrocon pilgrimage. Great service, really good southern comfort food, and a damn decent whiskey selection.
We stopped in before a Pirates game on a Monday evening. We were seated right away inside and got to order quickly. It was mac&cheese as an appetizer, and then we shared the half chicken, fries, and biscuits. I also ordered the Blackberry Lemonade cocktail. They were amazing in accommodating my request to substitute the lemonade for soda water. My lower calorie and less sweet version hit the spot! It was light, bright, and was just what I needed after all the walking we did all day. Thank you to the whole staff for a great meal in a great city!
Went to this restaurant this evening during the Three Rivers Arts Festival. The gentleman seating everyone was so pleasant and had a smile for everyone. I was impressed by the professionalism. Everyone was seated in a timely manner. The gentleman who was helping bus the tables, next in command, was also such a good guy. They did their jobs efficiently and were not impatient or unkind despite how busy they were. Job well done.
I’m from the Deep South and this place has the best fried chicken I’ve ever had in my life. It doesn’t matter everyone else can quit trying. Drinks were good nothing really to write home about but the food was great and on a busy 4th of July the staff was kind and courteous. The atmosphere is warm and new age. I’d come back 1,000 times just to get the same meal.
Just tried what I heard was an amazing fried chicken joint in Pittsburgh. I have to say the food was definitely great, but this has to be one of the best servers I’ve ever had. Let me tell you about how this was the best experience for my husband and I...ever...anywhere: This was our first time at The Eagle. We had some time to kill before heading to The Killers of Kill Tony at the Benedum, so we thought we could grab a bite to eat and a few drinks. The Eagle was SLAMMED, but so was everything everywhere. Figuring that there was an hour and a half to relax, we grabbed a spot at the bar and sat down. Our drinks came very quickly and they were divine; I had the Prosecco Punch and my husband the Blackberry Lemonade. After a few moments of deliberation, we decided to order the hushpuppies, fries, and two bowls of the burnt ends mac and cheese. The order goes in with about an hour to go. Five minutes til Tony...still no food. At this point, we have to get going, so we apologize and ask that they could just cancel our food and we'll pay for the drinks. The staff are super empathetic and apologize in return for the delay. Mind now that we completely understand and let them know that we're not upset in the slightest. In swoops Nicole...the best hostess and manager that we've ever had grace us with her presence. She warmly expresses that she feels sorry that she "couldn't feed us" and comps our drinks. My husband and I let her know that we will be returning after the show. Hours later, we make good on our promise and as soon as we walk in, the host let's us know that they've got a table set for us. After a brief moment, Nicole floats over and, already knowing our entire order, settles us into a comfy booth. The food comes out quickly this time, and it is mind-blowingly delicious. We enjoy every last morsel and thank the staff profusely for having us. We get ready to leave and ask for the check. "Oh, you two don't have one...you're already taken care of!" We had been left out in the cold after the restaurant we had attempted and were on a list for fell through. Going to the Eagle after looking for alternatives...the first thing was getting on a wait list for the Eagle, and we were told it be 45 miutes. We waited, and thank God we did, and we walked in 5 minutes before that wait ended. The matron apologized for being 3 MINUTES late after getting us in....on a holiday weekend and the place was packed. We got seated, and all the staff was wonderful and kind, giving real southern hospitality when we had a really rough night. The food hit in a way we hadnt had before, the chicken (white meat 1/4th) was succulent and juicy, not dry in any way. Its obvious they knew their stuff from the breast which is the hardest to nail. Mac and cheese was great (though I would prefer more.cheese sauce). Friends ordered the non alcoholic blackberry lemonade and lamented I couldnt have it (artificial sweetner), but they have never made overblown comments. They were raised in Kentucky and remarked "it tastes like home". I only hope they open in Cleveland sometime because I am making this a yearly trip no doubt.
